ABC Gippsland

ABC Gippsland is a vital talk radio station broadcasting from Sale on 828 AM and 100.7 FM. Serving residents from the Latrobe Valley to the Eastern Highlands since October 31, 1935, the station acts as an official emergency broadcaster for bushfires and floods while focusing its programming on local politics, the economy, and community life.

The radio station’s newsroom is led by a diverse team, including multi-platform journalist Bec Symons, global news veteran William Howard, and energy specialist Natasha Schapova. Supported by Georgia Lenton-Williams and filmmaker-turned-journalist Rachael Lucas, they provide in-depth coverage and interviews with regional leaders, farmers, and local experts across southeastern Victoria.

The daily schedule features Mim Hook (6:35 am), Nic Healey, and Mary Gearin, with agricultural priority led by Jane McNaughton on the Victorian Country Hour. Evenings are hosted by Warwick Long and Paul Verhoeven, with Melody Moko on Saturdays. The station's 90-year legacy of trust is memorialized by a plaque for late newsreader Marc DeBono, marking its role as a professional "forge" for Australian journalism.
